CILIFO presenta oportunidades de financiación europea para la gestión de residuos agrícolas y forestales en las Semanas Europeas de la Energía y del Desarrollo Sostenible

El proyecto Interreg CILIFO (Centro Ibérico para la Investigación y Lucha contra Incendios Forestales) y su aceleradora Firefighting Open Innovation Lab – CILIFO (FOIL-CILIFO) celebran el próximo viernes 24 de septiembre de 2021 un evento organizado por la Fundación Finnova, como una de las entidades beneficiarias del proyecto. Se trata de una jornada en el marco de la Semana Europea de la Energía Sostenible (EUSEW), el mayor evento dedicado a las energías renovables y su uso eficiente en Europea y la Semana Europea del Desarrollo Sostenible (ESDW), la iniciativa europea para la promoción y visibilización de proyectos que promueven el desarrollo sostenible y los ODS.

Dentro de CILIFO, la Fundación Finnova, se encarga de la gestión de FOIL-CILIFO, y está implicada en la dotación de conocimientos sobre las oportunidades de financiación europea para propuestas innovadoras que contribuyan a los objetivos del proyecto y su aceleradora a través del programa «Formación en Fuentes Financieras».

El evento «Forest Waste to Energy (FOIL-CILIFO): Financiación de la UE para soluciones innovadoras en la gestión de residuos agrícolas y forestales», estará centrado especialmente en herramientas de financiación comunitarias, como el programa LIFE y sus oportunidades para financiar proyectos que incorporen soluciones innovadoras que contribuyen a la lucha contra el cambio climático. Con la presencia de expertos de la esfera pública, especialistas en fondos europeos y socios de CILIFO, se hablará concretamente de propuestas que permitan el aprovechamiento o una correcta gestión de los residuos agrícolas y forestales generados en áreas que se han visto afectadas por incendios forestales.

El objetivo de la jornada es el de mostrar oportunidades de financiación europea para propuestas que favorezcan la gestión de residuos agrícolas y forestales de manera innovadora. Gracias a la participación en EUSEW a través de sus «Energy Days» y en ESDW a través de sus «Sustainability Action Days» se posibilita la difusión del proyecto, consolidando su labor en el ámbito del desarrollo sostenible y su compromiso climático a nivel europeo.

Durante el evento se hará el lanzamiento de la 3ª Edición de los “Firefighting StartUp Europe Awards” (SEUA-CILIFO), una iniciativa promovida por la Comisión Europea, implementada por la Fundación Finnova en colaboración con StartUp Europe y apoyada por el marco del proyecto CILIFO. El objetivo es localizar a aquellas que ofrecen productos, servicios o metodologías que abordan las tres fases en la lucha contra incendios forestales 1) Prevención 2) Extinción 3) Regeneración. Deben aportar una mejora de la eficiencia de los recursos en la actuación contra incendios forestales; herramientas tecnológicas; sensibilización social; comportamiento del fuego; patrones espaciales y temporales del fuego; meteorología de incendios y clasificación de peligro de incendios; técnicas de extinción de incendios; detección terrestre, aérea y espacial; restauración; etc. Más información en https://innovation.cilifo.eu/3a-edicion-seua-cilifo-2021

Por su parte, la Fundación ONCE hará una breve presentación del curso Atención a la diversidad en el entorno forestal, que imparte conocimientos sobre las necesidades de las personas con discapacidad y otros colectivos vulnerables durante un incendio. Se trata de un curso online, gratuito, cuya siguiente edición comienza el 4 de octubre, que se enmarca dentro de los esfuerzos de sensibilización del proyecto CILIFO.

Desde CILIFO se trabaja no solo por un control efectivo de los incendios forestales, sino que se abordan sus consecuencias y se evita su materialización desde la base, a través de la formación y un enfoque orientado a la mitigación con énfasis en el entorno rural.  A través de la aceleradora Firefighting Open Innovation Lab – CILIFO (FOIL-CILIFO), empresas y tecnologías enfocadas a la prevención y extinción de incendios forestales y su posterior gestión trabajan conjuntamente para poner fin a este grave problema que afecta a importantes cantidades de terreno cada año.

A través de esta aceleradora, se apoya las iniciativas de emprendedores y empresas en materia de prevención y extinción de incendios forestales, gestión forestal y adaptación y mitigación del cambio climático, Firefighting Open Innovation Lab – CILIFO ha sido seleccionada por el comité de evaluación de la Subdirección General de Apoyo a la PYME como la iniciativa ganadora de la fase nacional y representará a España a nivel de la Unión Europea en los Premios Europeos a la Promoción Empresarial (EEPA).

Desde el año 2006 EASME (Agencia Ejecutiva para las Pequeñas y Medianas Empresas) organiza esta semana con el propósito de construir un futuro energético seguro para Europa. ESDW es una semana europea cuyo fin es el de facilitar la organización de actividades que giren en torno a la celebración de actividades que promuevan el desarrollo sostenible, facilitando la creación de sinergias a través de un espacio común. Este 2021 tendrá su semana principal entre los días 20 y 26 de septiembre, aunque se posibilita la opción de celebrar eventos paralelos desde el 18 de septiembre hasta el 8 de octubre. ESDW tiene un fuerte compromiso con la Agenda 2030 y sus 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS), por lo que todas las actividades y eventos que tengan lugar durante estas fechas deberán tener un vínculo temático con estos ODS.

CILIFO to discuss EU funding opportunities in agricultural and forestry waste management on EU Sustainable Energy Week & EU Sustainable Development Week

On Friday 24 September 2021, the project entitled ‘Interreg CILIFO (Centro Ibérico para la Investigación y Lucha contra Incendios Forestales)’[1] and its accelerator Firefighting Open Innovation Lab – CILIFO (FOIL-CILIFO) will hold an event organised by Finnova Foundation – one of the beneficiaries of CILIFO. This event will be held within the framework of the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the largest event devoted to renewable energies and its efficient use across Europe, and the EU Sustainable Development Week (ESDW), an EU initiative to promote and to showcase projects upholding sustainable development and SDGs.

Within CILIFO, Finnova Foundation manages FOIL-CILIFO and is also involved in disseminating EU funding opportunities for innovative solutions helping meet the objectives of CILIFO and FOIL-CILIFO via the ‘Training in Financial Sources’ programme.

The event entitled ‘Forest Waste to Energy (FOIL-CILIFO): EU Funding for Innovative Solutions in Agricultural and Forestry Waste Management’ will focus mainly on the opportunities of EU funding mechanisms – such as LIFE – to finance projects which use innovative solutions to help fight against climate change. From public institutions and experts on EU funds to partners of CILIFO, panelists will discuss proposals enabling to harness or to correctly manage agricultural and forest wastes in areas stricken by forest fires.

The goal of this event is to talk about EU funding opportunities for proposals introducing innovations on agricultural and forestry management practices. The participation of CILIFO in the EUSEW’s ‘Sustainable Energy Days’ and in the ESDW’s ‘Sustainability Action Days’ will help disseminate CILIFO and will consolidate its mission in the sustainable development field as well as its climate commitment at an EU level.

During the event, the 3rd Edition of Firefighting StartUp Europe Awards (SEUA-CILIFO) will be launched. SEUA-CILIFO is an initiative promoted by the European Commission, implemented by Finnova Foundation along with StartUp Europe, and endorsed by CILIFO. The aim is to identify innovative start-ups offering products, services or methods addressing the three stages in forest firefighting: 1) prevention, 2) extinction, and 3) regeneration. Start-ups should contribute to the following areas: improving the efficiency of resources in fighting against forest fires; providing technological tools; raising social awareness; addressing fire behaviour; analysing time and space patterns; addressing forest fire meteorology and hazard classification; putting forward extinction techniques; conducting terrestrial, aerial and spatial surveillance; addressing the regeneration of burnt areas, et cetera. Fundación ONCE will provide a broad overview of a training course entitled ‘Raising Awareness about Diversity in Forests’ which will discuss the needs of disabled persons and other vulnerable groups when forest fires break out. It is an online free course and it will kick off on 4 October. This course is aligned with CILIFO’s efforts to raise awareness about these topics.

CILIFO strives to achieve an effective control of forest fires as well as addressing their consequences. CILIFO aims to prevent forest fires by raising awareness and by applying a mitigation approach in rural areas. Firefighting Open Innovation Lab – CILIFO (FOIL-CILIFO) serves as a meeting point for enterprises and technologies working to prevent and extinguish forest fires and address post-fire management – a severe problem affecting large swaths of land each year.
